Ancillary Items
The Details That Drive Performance
From bespoke trough infills to precision-cut crickets and lamella boards, Gradient’s ancillary products are designed to support smarter, more effective roofing systems.
Why ancillaries matter
The components that complete the system
Insulation boards do the heavy lifting — but a flat roof's long-term performance, watertightness and compliance rely on every element of the build-up working together. Ancillary items close the gaps, manage the transitions and protect the vulnerable details that standard boards simply cannot address.
What happens without the right ancillaries
The most common causes of flat roof failure are not defects in the primary insulation — they are failures at the details. Junctions, edges, penetrations and drainage transitions are where problems begin, and they are precisely the locations that ancillary items are designed to protect.
Ponding and standing water
Without crickets behind upstands and penetrations, water collects and sits — accelerating membrane degradation and adding structural load.

x Water pools behind upstands and rooflights x Membrane tears at hard 90 degree junctions over time x Insulation bridges deck troughs, flexing under load x Cold bridges form at uninsulated perimeter edges x Rigid boards crack or fail to conform on curved roofs x Eaves ventilation voids are blocked or compromised |
✓ Crickets direct water cleanly to outlets ✓ Angle fillets distribute stress across the membrane ✓ Trough infills provide a continuous, stable substrate ✓ Stop battens seal perimeter edges and hold the build-up ✓ Lamella boards conform fully to any curved geometry ✓ Deflectors maintain the required airflow path at eaves |
